Historic Cemeteries are museums of history
... recorded monuments of a partially documented era, time, people, and culture.
They attest to the existence of early communities, churches, schools, and the contributions of citizens. Old historic cemeteries provide a map of community history etched in the terrain and stone of monuments.

Why Not Legacy & Heritage, Inc. collaborates with Project Respect, Inc., civic partners, foundations and organizations to propel the initiatives for the restoration and preservation of the Historic Evergreen Negro Cemetery in Houston’s Fifth Ward and various historic cemeteries in Texas; to include efforts for leveling, replacing monuments that have been displaced, landscaping, creating a memorial monument with a and restoring a fence perimeter around the property. Project Respect, Inc. is the official conservator for the historic cemetery.
